Soccer Rules & Regulations

1. Starting the Match: All players participating for the first time must sign their teams waiver. Failure to do so will void players eligibility. The team waiver is to be the actual roster. Matches are to be started no later than 10 minutes into the hour. Use of open areas is allowed for practice prior to match play with the referees approval. Teams not ready to take part in any of the 10 minute warm up period will not be given extra time and the match will be started immediately. Kick off is determined by flipping a coin with winning team determining side. Teams will change sides at the half.
   
   
2. Single Game Scoring: All games are scored by goals. Games are won by a 1 point margin. Scores are announced by the referee prior to each kick off. Example: kicking team has 2 points & receiving team has 8: "2 to 8". Contact CSM rep with any game rules or fault infraction questions regarding scoring.
   
   
3. Season scoring: Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss, and will lose a point for any forfeits. (See more information in playoffs)
   
   
4. Forfeits: All around bad news. A forfeit will be declared after 16 minutes if there are less than four registered players from an individual team. Penalties are as follows: *One goal loss 6 minutes into the hour. *Two goals lost 12 minutes into the hour *Game lost 16 minutes into the hour If a team has seven or more registered players but less than a full eleven person complement, a legal game may be played with or without substitutes. Coed teams may start with less than 2 women on the field and may play a legal game with 4 men only. Additional male players are allowed at the discretion of the opposing team. Additional male players are not permitted in the playoffs. If your team should you forfeit three times your team will be expelled from the league with no refunds provided. No forfeit fees have been built into league fees as forfeits have been extremely rare. A match forfeit will automatically be scored 0 to 10 (goals) and minus 1 (point)
   
   
5. Substitution Policy: THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR TEAM! Substitutes from other Sports Monster same league teams are allowed and preferred. Opposing team may not challenge a same league Sports Monster substitutes. Substitutes from outside that league are allowed as follows: Substitute must register with CSM rep prior to game and sign team waiver. Opposing team may challenge suspected ineligible substitute to CSM rep, but this must be done before the game or at half time. ONLY 1 INTRALEAGUE SUBSTITUTION IS ALLOWED IN THE PLAYOFFS! Playoff intraleague substitute will only be allowed if team would play short otherwise. Teams must play with your registered/rostered players in the playoffs. Registered/rostered players are those that have signed that teams waiver by the 7th week. There are only two exceptions: If you know that you will be unable to complete the season, notify CSM at least two weeks prior to playoffs. Upon approval, your substitute may take your place and be eligible throughout. A last minute injury that prevents a player to participate will allow a substitute. Notification to CSM is required regarding injury status. Any substitutes, male or female, will void permission to pick up an extra player.
   
   Independent Teams Only: All outside substitute players for independent rostered teams must be approved by CSM for play. Phone notification is required.
