St. Louis Sports Monster Broomball
The 2008 Broomball Winter playoffs were intense action. Congratulations to Pump Up the Jam! They are the 2008 St. Louis Broomball Winter league champions! Broomball will be back in action in Fall 2008.
Dust off that broom and be ready to hit the ice in the wackiest sport there is...
Broomball was Sports Monster`s most popular sport in St. Louis in the 2007-2008 winter. There is a small window of playing time, so we start in early every December. Rain Dates may be played on days other than the regular league date.
Due to VERY limited space, you need to register as quickly as possible to get your team or yourself a spot. If you are signing up by yourself or with a couple of friends, be sure to include 3 options of what day you can play.
Match play will be in Forest Park at the outdoor Steinberg Rink. There is a convenient "warming hut" that is actually a full service bar and concession stand - bonus on those cold winter nights!

If you haven`t played Broomball before, think of it as a combination of ice hockey and floor hockey, but played with brooms and without skates. Sports Monster will be providing the sticks, balls and helmets - so all you have to do is show up (you do need mouthguards too). Broomball-specific shoes are available at SportLine or other athletic stores, but if you don`t feel like spending the extra money - gym shoes work just fine.
Each team will have 5 players (3 men/2 women) on the ice at one time. We recommend having at least 10 players on your roster to allow for subbing and player absences.
Match times run 45 minutes and most leagues run in the evening with 9:00 - 10:30 start times. Please note that due to unpredictable weather, this is subject to change and games may have to be played on different nights to complete the season if possible.
Although many full teams register, Sports Monster encourages individuals and groups to register as we do create new independent teams each season.
This is sure to be a great time! And it only comes around twice a year for a short time - so don`t miss out!

How to register to play:
- Click Upcoming Programs in the menu to the left (under the sport) for a full listing of what is starting soon.
- Click the Info & Pricing prompt for full outline of any specific program you see listed. You may opt to register within the Info & Pricing prompt at the bottom of that screen.
- Once you know the program you want to sign up to play, click either Team Register or Individual Register prompts.
- Note: If you are signing up a full team, the Team fee is what you pay with applicable per player fees. Individuals who sign up by themselves pay the Individual fee plus applicable per player fees.
How are you Registering? A full team with captain paying? A team who wants each player to register and pay to play separately? A group? Or by yourself? All options are found under the Registration prompt found to the left menu bar or via the prompts under Upcoming Programs...
- For captains registering a full team, click the Team option.
- For captains starting a team who want their players to pay Sports Monster individually, click the Register as an Individual and when prompted for who you want to play with, list the team name and instruct your players to do the same. As long as the minimum roster size is met by the start of the league, Sports Monster will honor these individually paid rosters.
- For an individual signing up more than one person, click the Register Myself and Friends option.
- For an individual signing up to play with a friend who will pay separately, click the Register as an Individual option and list your friend(s) when asked who you want to play with.
- If you are signing up by yourself, click the Register as an Individual option
Note that some programs are listed as a Fire Sale. These are specially priced leagues and/or pricing that is available for a limited time.
