Sports Monster Go-Deep Football Rules The Rules Section is divided into 4v4 specific, 7v7 men's or 8v8 coed specific and Universal League rules. Go-Deep 4v4 men's, women's & coed specific rulesThese rules pertain specifically to Go-Deep 4v4 formats. See Universal Rules in the third section below for additional info.
- Field Dimensions: All Go-Deep 4v4 leagues utilize a 50 yard playing field with two 7 yard end zones. Field width varies by location.
- Minimum number of players to start: Matches may officially be played with a minimum of 3 rostered players. For coed, one of those players MUST be a woman.
- Maximum number of players at match: While rosters may be higher, a team can consist of a maximum of six (6) players per game with 4 on the field and 2 substitutes on the sidelines. Extra players will be required to leave the field or face match forfeit penalty. If your roster has more than 6 players (not recommended), be sure to coordinate who will be your six players each week.
- No Kickoffs or Punting
- No Contact or Blocking
- Possession Changes: All possession changes will start at the offensive team's 5 yard line. Exception: On interceptions the team will take possession of the ball where the interceptor's flag belt is pulled. Penalties on intereception returns will be assessed where the interception occurred unless referee judges that a player intentionally or flagrantly commits a penalty then the penalty will be at the point of the foul-no less than the point of interception.
- Downed Contact: Flag must be grabbed cleanly for downed contact. No flag guarding (i.e stiff-arming) will be allowed and will result in a ten yard penalty from the spot of the foul. If flag falls off during play, offensive player is down upon spot of flag--it is up to you to make sure your equipment is on right! If flag falls off before play starts, that player becomes an ineligible receiver and must put on flag to participate in play. Referee will not stop time for player's flag problems.
- Snapping the ball: All plays MUST commence with the ball being snapped between the center's legs. NO side-arm snaps. NO center hand-offs.
- QB Pass Attempt Time: A QB has seven (7) seconds to attempt a pass. Failure to attempt a pass within 7 seconds shall result in the play being called dead and ball marked at spot of QB.
- Rushing the QB: Referee will set rush marker seven (7) yards from line of scrimmage. (Note: Please assist your referee in moving line and rush markers to keep play moving) Teams may rush one or more players IMMEDIATELY upon the ball being snapped from at least the 7 yard rush marker. Be careful of leaving early-wait for the snap!
- Eligible Receivers: All players are eligible to receive a pass.
- First Downs: Fields will be set-up w/ (1) mid-field cone. Offense has 3 downs to cross midfield for a first down and then has 3 downs to score a touchdown. Failure to achieve first down or score shall result in change of possession to start at opposing team's 5 yard line.
- Pass Completion: A completed pass will be counted with one foot inbounds with full possession of the ball.
- Run Plays: Allowed only by QB.
