Soccer will be here before you know it. Our inaugural fall season was a huge success - thanks to you! Be sure to tell your friends about Sports Monster soccer where referee fees are INCLUDED, our games start and end on time, rules are followed/enforced and players have FUN!
Sports Monster is America`s largest adult soccer program with hundreds of teams playing with us in our seasonal leagues and tournaments. In Columbus, we offer two distinct levels of play. If you are fairly adept at soccer, you should play our competitive 11v11 full field. If you are more of a kicker and looking for a very relaxed format, you should try our 8v8 recreational league with shorter field format.
Because soccer teams require a minimum of 11 and a recommended roster of 15-16, Sports Monster completely understand how it may be difficult to get a full team together. That is why we also lead the nation in encouraging individual players to register for the formation of brand new teams made up of other individual players. This has worked out tremendously well for those who have signed up by themselves. And if you are signing up by yourself, we are confident that you will find Sports Monster to be a great way to play soccer and meet new friends.
We are all about you having fun on the field. Our matches have paid referees, start and end on time. and promote good sportsmanship and solid competition.
Whether you have a complete team, a group of up to 7 (outdoor) or 4 (indoor) or are signing up by yourself, you`ll find a soccer home with Sports Monster.
The following will outline the skill levels and outdoor roster descriptions.
Sports Monster offers two (2) skill levels to choose from in Columbus:
- Competitive 11 Full Field: Sports Monster`s most popular level of soccer, the Competitive level is played in two 25 minute halves.
When you play Competitive, you will be playing against teams whose majority of players are skilled. College experience is not uncommon but the majority of players will have IM, high school or other soccer league experience. There will be few unskilled players at this level.
Overall game play is solid and players are expected to understand the majority of soccer rules. All penalties are enforced including offsides. Slide-tackling is not permitted.
Competitive is offered in coed, men`s and women`s formats. Matches are offered, depending on format, on weeknights or weekends. Coed = 7 men/4 women on the field.
- Recreational 8`s: This is a great way for you to get into soccer if you haven`t played before. It`s laid back--no big expectations for skill levels. This is our most basic soccer league and is the only one not played on a full field--no offsides! Offered in a Coed 8 on 8 format, Recreational leagues are played on a shortened field, without goalies and with goals that are similar to indoor sized goals.
How to register to play:
- Click Upcoming Programs for a full listing of what is starting soon.
- Click on the league for full outline of any program you see listed.
- Once you know the program you want to sign up to play, click the select league tab next to the league of your choice and follow the prompts.
- Note: If you are signing up a full team, the Team fee is what you pay with applicable per player fees. Individuals who sign up by themselves pay the Individual fee plus applicable per player fees.
How are you Registering? A full team with captain paying? A team who wants each player to register and pay to play separately? A group? Or by yourself? All options are found under the Registration prompt found to the left menu bar or via the prompts under Upcoming Programs...
- For captains registering a full team, click the Team option.
- For captains starting a team who want their players to pay Sports Monster individually, click the Register as an Individual and when prompted for who you want to play with, list the team name and instruct your players to do the same. As long as the minimum roster size is met by the start of the league, Sports Monster will honor these individually paid rosters.
- For an individual signing up more than one person, click the Register Myself and Friends option.
- For an individual signing up to play with a friend who will pay separately, click the Register as an Individual option and list your friend(s) when asked who you want to play with.
- If you are signing up by yourself, click the Register as an Individual option
