Chicago Sports Monster Tennis 

In 2009 Sports Monster expanded our tennis program to include:

  • Group Lessons for all skill levels
  • Leagues for all skill levels
  • Fitness classes

Whether your picking up a racquet for the first time or an experienced pro, Sports Monster has a tennis program for you! Not only will you have a great time playing with old friends and meeting new friends, you'll also recieve expert advice from some of Denver's top instructors.

Tennis Programs

Co-ed Mixed Doubles Tennis League – One male player and one female player playing together against another male/female team. Weeknight evenings. Play eight game, pro-set, regular scoring and females switch partners and play another eight game pro-set.  Twelve-point Tie-breaker when tied after seven games.  Each week players rotate partners so all league participants play everyone. Play time is 1.5 hours. 

Sports Monster Team Tennis (SMTT) – Two males and two females are ideal per team.  Team remains same for entire season.  Team Tennis format includes six sets: Men’s singles/doubles, women’s singles/doubles,  and two games of mixed doubles. Sign up as a team, a couple or individual.  Play time is 1.5 hours.

Learn/Play Tennis League – No tennis experience necessary.  Learn stroke technique starting with the basics for 30 minutes each session followed by one hour of doubles play.  Begins with overview of all shots.  Each week focuses on perfecting individual shots.  By the end of seven weeks you’ll be able to play tennis!  So much fun and no pressure. Play time is 1.5 hours.

Women’s Day Doubles Tennis League – Play women’s doubles once a week for seven weeks in convenient daytime hours.  3.0 level and up.  Rotation system where you will play with and against all league participants.  Three sets of no-ad-doubles changing partners after each set.  Tie-breakers when game score is tied at six.  League coordinators will track sets and games won/lost to determine standings. Play time is 1.5 hours.

Men’s Evening Doubles League – Play men’s doubles once a week for seven weeks in weeknight evening hours.  3.0 Level and up.  Rotation system – you play with and against all league participants.  Three sets of no-ad doubles changing partners after each set.  Tie-breakers when game score is tied at six.  League coordinators will track sets won and games won/lost to determine standings. Play time is 1.5 hours.

Senior Doubles Tennis League – Play Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Senior doubles once a week for seven weeks in convenient weekday hours.  55 years + are eligible.  Rotation system – you play with and against all other league participants.  Two sets, regular scoring per session.  Play time is 1.5 hours.

Men’s Saturday Doubles Tennis League – Play Men’s Doubles on Saturday mornings for seven weeks.  3.0 level and up.  Rotation system – you play with and against all league participants.  Three sets regular scoring, rotate partner after each set.  Play time between 1.5 and 2 hours.

16 Best Men’s Doubles Tennis League – Are you one of the 16 best doubles players in your area?  Get your chance to knock heads with the best in the community.  4.5 + rating eligible.  Weeknight evenings for seven weeks.  Rotation system – you play with/against all players.  Coordinators track sets won and games won/lost to determine league winner.  League winner gets league fees refunded.  Women with rating of 5.5+ are eligible.

 Tennis Group Lesson Programs

Introduction to Tennis - Absolutely no tennis or even sports experience necessary. Start from the basics in a fun and non-threatening group experience. Progress at you own speed with our patient instructors. You will learn all the shots to be able to enjoy this great, lifetime sport.  Great activity and a wonderful way to meet new friends. No worries if you are bit out of shape. Get started with us.

Beginning Tennis - A little tennis experience helpful but not necessary. Meet new people and have fun learning to play this great game in a group setting. All basics covered by our most patient and qualified instructors. We will help you progress with our proven progressions of learning. It’s easy and fun.

Intermediate Tennis - Some tennis experience necessary and prior lessons helpful. Take your game to the next level with our experienced, professional coaches in a friendly group setting. Perfect those techniques. Get in great shape. Have a great time doing it.

Cardio Tennis - Fitness Class - So much fun you won’t know you’re exercising. Run and hit balls in group class set to music. Hit every shot in tennis from forehands to serves on the move while grooving to the music. Great fitness class, great tennis improvement class. Meet new friends and tennis fitness.

Tennis Workout for Animals - Advanced Fitness Class- High level of fitness required. Cross train with tennis to jazz up your workouts or get ready for your next league or tournament. Speed, strength and endurance will be tested. Bring the animal in you out. Group experience allows you to meet other highly fit individuals.

Sports Monster's National Tennis Monster is Marsh Riggs. Marsh is a certified Pro I professional with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and has been directing tennis for over 20 years. He has made numerous contributions to the game of tennis as a player, coach, commissioner and chairman. Some of the accolades he has received over the years include the NIKE P.L.A.Y. Coach of the Game award, the NJTL scholarship award, and the USTA/USPTA Partnership award.


How to register to play:

  1. Click Upcoming Programs for a full listing of what is starting soon.
  2. Click on the league for full outline of any program you see listed.
  3. Once you know the program you want to sign up to play, click the select league tab next to the league of your choice and follow the prompts.
  4. Note: If you are signing up a full team, the Team fee is what you pay with applicable per player fees. Individuals who sign up by themselves pay the Individual fee plus applicable per player fees.

How are you Registering? A full team with captain paying? A team who wants each player to register and pay to play separately? A group? Or by yourself? All options are found under the Registration prompt found to the left menu bar or via the prompts under Upcoming Programs...

  • For captains registering a full team, click the Team option.
  • For captains starting a team who want their players to pay Sports Monster individually, click the Register as an Individual and when prompted for who you want to play with, list the team name and instruct your players to do the same. As long as the minimum roster size is met by the start of the league, Sports Monster will honor these individually paid rosters.
  • For an individual signing up more than one person, click the Register Myself and Friends option.
  • For an individual signing up to play with a friend who will pay separately, click the Register as an Individual option and list your friend(s) when asked who you want to play with.
  • If you are signing up by yourself, click the Register as an Individual option

Note that some programs are listed as a Fire Sale. These are specially priced leagues and/or pricing that is available for a limited time.
